Notes: I made this dress for my sister as her Birthday present. It was kept totally secret from her, which was one of the hardest things to do, especially considering how much fabric there was, the dyeing that had to be done, and the accessories that had to sit out to dry. The dress was 4 layers. There were two stretchy layers underneath, and then a layer of a semi sheer fabric that we dyed, with a layer of cream colored chiffon over the top of that to soften the color. We used Setacolor Fabric paints watered down and sprayed on to do the gradient. The top of the dress and the chiffon were bound with white blanket binding. The dress was halter style and had a low back. The necklace rested over the halter top and it was made from foamies and polystyrene sheeting. It was painted with pearl white acrylic paint and gold liquid leaf. The arm bands were made with the same materials and were glued with the fabric between the foam and plastic to hold it in place. The headbands were Satin bridal headbands that we colored using Copic markers. Then my Mom did the designs on them with purple pearl puffy paint and little grey natural pearls pushed into the puffy paint. Two of the four headbands were cut down in size to fit the "nautilus" shaped hair style. The hair was incredibly difficult to style, however I feel we managed quite well, It took about 40 minutes to do though. In the end this was a very very successful costume. My sister loved it, and together we made her boyfriend an Anakin Costume too! Our Star Wars Group at Connecticon won first place in the advanced division for our Skit.
