Notes: This costume so far is one of my favorites and is definatly one of my best in quality. I spent a very long time on this costume in order to ensure that everything was done to the highest quality. I learned several new techniques for this costume, the most important was learning to sculpt and make armor from PaperClay. Umi was by far the most challenging costume so far to figure out all the steps. It involved a lot of problem solving and tests. In terms of sewing however, this was a very easy costume. The sewing that was required for this costume was the simplest I have ever done, I didn't even make any patterns for it. The skirt fabric was a Batik print that I then dyed using the dip dye gradient technique. My sword was made from wood, PaperClay, Sculpy, and was coated in a resin varnish. I painted with acrylic paints, and all the gold was done with Antique Gold Liquid Leaf. I used foamies to do a lot of the "metal" details on the armor, the accessories, and the midrif armor. Hot glue was my very good friend on this project. Ok, I think that is everything for now. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
