-of Final Fantasy X-2- {Back To Cosplay Gallery} Date Completed: April 2004 First Worn at: Anime Boston '04 Time Spent: 15-20 hours Materials Cost: approx. $60 Awards: Design Award in Craftsmanship @ AB '04 Notes: This costume was made in pretty much one straight shot, the day before the convention. I think we may have had the robe started before then, but not much progress had been made until the day before. All the construction was done by myself and my sister. The robe was made from a pattern (forgive me, I cannot remember which one, in fact I may have drafted it myself... I really don't remember :P )but the hood was altered to be super huge. The outside edge of the hood was also stuffed with a long piece of foam so it would stand out and cover the bottom of the head. The head was made from seat cushion foam and was put together using hot glue, this meant there was much burning of fingers on the part of myself and my sister. We spray painted it with many coats of green and then attached the styrofoam eyes, and painted the black "stitching" lines on. The gold pattern on the robe was just done with gold acrylic paint. We sketched the design on first with chalk however. My sister made the knife and the lantern. The knife was made from foam core and held together with electrical tape. The lantern was made from a Oatmeal cardboard can. She attached a handle and covered it in brown poster board and then cut out the middle and put gold tissue paper around it so that when you put a glow stick inside the lantern really looked like it was glowing. It was very very cool! The lantern was not made until later for Otakon 05. As mentioned above, this costume was part of our group at AB '04 that won the Design award in Craftsmanship.
