Notes: No matter what I make in the future I doubt that I will love any costume more than this one. This was only my second major costume effort and was probably one of the biggest challenges that I could have taken on considering my skill level. I am incredibly proud of this dress even though I know now that I could do a better job on it. The dress is backless and has boning in the front and crisscross straps across the back to hold it up. It is fully lined and the feathers on the front are attached to quiters bias tape that was then spot sewed onto the lining. My wings were made from various sizes of duck and ostrich feathers and they were mounted on a ring of floral styrofoam, with a half sphere of styrofoam in the center on which I aranged the bouquet of red and yellow silk flowers. The wings were held on by an elastic belt that went around my waist underneath the front of my dress. I bought my crown on ebay for $35 and it came with the veil. All the flowers were silk and arranged by myself. I totally love this costume and wearing it. I love the way it flows when I walk and stuff. Its a very elegant costume and always gets lots of photos at conventions... Its just a hassle at conventions because people seem to enjoy stepping on the train and running into the wings. I never really can do much but stand around when I wear this dress because it is difficult to do much in it.. especially sit, because of the wings (thats why the Otakon masquerade was a pain.. sitting in that dress for 3 hours between two chairs not able to lean back...oh the pain!). Anyways... I think thats enough about this dress for now. This costume appeared in Cosplay section of the November 2003 issue of Animerica.
