-By Kairi G, weave instruction(art) by Kynthiamoon of www.cosplay.com - Supplies: 8 yards red 1” wide cotton strapping (tote bag straps) 2 yards piping filler cord (1” diameter) Hair extension 7”x9” rectangle of white fabric Pink fabric dye Purple, black, or blue ribbon 1 strong hair tie Process: 1. Cut the 8 yards of strapping into 4, 2 yard pieces 2. Follow the image below and begin the weave with the 4 lengths of strapping. 3. Pin the first cross of the weave onto the top of the filler cord. 4. Continue to weave the strapping, while wrapping the lengths around the cord. 5. Pin occasionally along the weave to keep it in place and avoid gaps. 6. When you have wrapped the strapping as far as you can, cut the remaining filler cord off, and sew the strapping ends together on both ends of the cord. 7. Attach the hair tie to the top of the hair tail 8. Take the hair extension, and hand sew it on to the end of the hair tail, then If you want, wrap the end of the tail with duct tape or something, to help hold the hair extension in place. I used red duct tape that matched the color of the strapping. 9. Take the white fabric piece and prepare the pink dye (prepare dye according to instructions on dye package). Brush on the dye to create a small gradient that travels across the length of the piece. Set the dye according to directions. 10. Add a ¼” hem to both top and bottom of the piece, and then sew it into a tube, so that the gradient is going up and down. 11. Slide the tube onto the hair tail so it covers the end where the hair extension is attached. 12. Tie the tube of fabric on to the hair tail tightly with the ribbon. It is tied slightly only ¼ of the way down the tube. 13. All Done! Depending on how long you want your Hair tail, you can cut the filler cord to the length you want before you start to wrap it. Just do not expect to get any longer than around 1 ½ yards, however this varies depending on how tight you make the weave. Pictures:
